The feud between Edge and Seth Rollins was a rare creative highpoint for WWE in 2021. Fans had been hoping for a match between the two once Edge made his dramatic return at the 2020 Royal Rumble, and 2021 saw three tremendous bouts between the stars. The first match at SummerSlam may well have been the best, a thrilling back and forth that saw the Rated-R Superstar come out on top.

The second stanza of the rivalry didn’t quite reach the heights of that first match, but it was head and shoulders above most WWE TV matches in 2021. Heck, it was head and shoulders above most WWE PPV matches in 2021. The two put their bodies on the line in front of a worldwide television audience, but Edge’s stubbornness eventually got the best of him as Rollins picked up the win. The finish was a nice reference to the past too, Rollins hitting Edge with a Stomp, forcing a stretcher exit and SERIOUS VOICES from the commentators.

The rivalry between Edge and Rollins eventually came to a climax at Crown Jewel inside Hell in a Cell, with Edge coming out on top. That too was an absolute banger, once you get past the whole ‘took place on a blood money show’ aspect of it all.
