Blimey, WWE has made a pig’s ear of Becky Lynch’s return, haven’t they?

It should have been the easiest thing on the planet to book. Heck, you don’t even need to book it. Just have Becky Lynch return to a hero’s welcome, make a point about coming back to take what is rightfully hers (the RAW Women’s Championship), and you’re off to the races. Can the returning hero climb the mountain once again?

Instead, she returned unannounced as a heel and beat the rising star of a generation in 26 seconds for the other title. What?

Modern-day WWE, ladies and gentlemen.

Okay, so Becky Lynch returned to defeat Bianca Belair in 26 seconds at SummerSlam. Fine. One must surmise that it is leading to something major down the road, right? Belair goes back to the drawing board, a journey of discovery and development, climaxing in a massive main event at WrestleMania?

Nope, the rematch was given away for free on TV. On November 1, Becky and Bianca had their second televised singles match, Becky picking up the tights-assisted win after an exposed buckle shot. Classic heel. It was a good match, obviously, but something about the whole thing just felt wrong.
