An imposing, lumbering heavyweight blessed with terrifying knockout power, Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva was a killer in his prime, but had his career whittled away by several brutal finishes. Few UFC fighters have ever taken the same level of punishment. At the time of writing, Silva has been knocked out in 10 of his 12 career defeats, showing that for all his offensive capabilities, his defensive deficiencies are legion.

'Bigfoot's' UFC career was teetering on the brink by the time he met the stone-handed Roy Nelson in September 2016. His UFC resumé already housed six TKO/KO defeats, and after just one win in his last seven fights, victory was essential. It proved to be his end, though: Nelson put Silva away with a trademark second-round knockout, and 'Bigfoot' was released soon after.

Given his declining win/loss record and dabblings with testosterone replacement therapy, it's surprising that Silva even made it to this point. Many had called for his retirement beforehand, as his knockout history had become scary a long time ago, but he remains active in combat sports today, going 0-2 and 0-1 in MMA and kickboxing since his UFC release.
