10 Precise Moments When WCW Careers Ended

7. Chris Benoit

Not many pro wrestlers hold a company's World Title aloft during their final televised minutes under contract. That makes Chris Benoit unique - he bagged the big gold belt on WCW's erratic Souled Out 2000 show, then handed it back to management backstage less than 24 hours later on Nitro.

That handover didn't happen on camera though.

No, instead, Arn Anderson (who had been the guest ref for Benoit vs. Sid at Souled Out) said he'd missed Sid's leg under the rope during the finish. Therefore, in typical WCW fashion, the World Title would be vacated and they'd find another way to fill the void without Benoit.

The Canadian bolted to the WWF alongside pals like Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko. They became The Radicalz, and never looked back at what might've been on the WCW side. All four were probably just glad to be away from the increasingly-disorganised sh*tshow.

Benoit's title reign lasted less than one day.
