10 Precise Moments When WCW Careers Ended

Oh man was this bad.

WCW only ever had one good idea for Bill Goldberg. His winning streak between 1997-1998 was tremendous stuff, but things fell apart once he'd taken that first pin from Kevin Nash at Starrcade '98. Post-streak, Goldberg floundered and eventually dabbled with an unwanted heel turn in 2000.

When that didn't work, WCW panicked and tried to recreate Bill's babyface run. They even brought in Sgt. DeWayne Bruce for the January 2001 Sin pay-per-view and had Goldberg team up with him in a bid to save his company career. Yup, ye olde "career ending" gimmick was all creative had.

Nobody believed that Goldberg's run was actually over when Lex Luger pinned him, but it was still a humbling moment for one of WCW's biggest stars. He bowed out for a while to rehab injuries, then the remnants of a promotion he'd helped build were sold off to the WWF before he could return.
