Last Seen: vs. John Cena - Raw, 2013

Officially, WWE retired the piledriver after the Right To Censor spiked Chyna on her head in 2000 and broke her neck. This was, of course, kayfabe, but the move was nonetheless declared outlawed by the company from that point forward. Much like chair-shots to the head, the company decided that the realities of the damage weren't worth the visuals.

However there have been a number of stars granted special exemption from this. Kane and The Undertaker still bust out the (normally far safer) Tombstone on occasion, and the Canadian Destroyer has just become a transitional move for half the roster these days. However, the classic piledriver is virtually never seen.

In 2007 Shawn Michaels dropped Cena on the steel steps during their WrestleMania match, and then in 2013 Cena received the move again from CM Punk. The latter incident had not been cleared with Vince beforehand, who apparently hit the roof when he saw it during the match.

Regardless though, WWE banned the move in 2000, and thus any wrestler using it as a finisher (Cactus Jack, Jerry Lawler etc) was forced to retire it on the spot.
