10 Predictions For The State Of Wrestling In 5 Years

4. Cody Takes Over AEW

If he remains injury free, then 2025 will be Cody's last year as a full-timer.

It could actually be his last as a wrestler full stop. The current AEW TNT Champ didn't go into details about what he hopes to do beyond his initial retirement. He just said he'd likely be closing that chapter of his life five years from now and assessing where to take his career from there.

One plausible outcome is that Cody assumes more control behind the scenes in All Elite. Without being too bold about it, largely because the guy seems very passionate about talking up his brand of pro wrestling, there's a slight chance Tony Khan will want to slide out of the public face role and let someone else handle all those press interviews.

Cody is well-spoken, constantly looks like someone worth listening to and clearly has a keen business head on those shoulders. Is it far too audacious to suggest that he'll replace Khan as AEW's CEO? Perhaps, but five years is a hell of a long time.
