6. New Challenges For The Boss

If recent rumours are to be believed, Charlotte was allegedly set to drop the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam rather than on Raw two weeks ago. Whatever the reason for the change, it was a memorable moment that contributed greatly to an excellent Raw broadcast, and the match itself was one of the best TV clashes that WWE’s women have ever produced.

They’re set to rematch at SummerSlam, and there’s little to suggest Charlotte will regain the title. Sasha is the most popular women in the company and a great person to build the division around following her rival’s lengthy reign. They gave Sasha her life-making moment by putting the title around her waist, and WWE aren’t about to take it away yet.

Defeating Charlotte will be a conclusive finish to their long-term rivalry, and after months of locking horns with Ric Flair’s most famous offspring, it’ll be time for Banks to find a new long-term rival to help anchor the division. As good as the Charlotte vs. Sasha matches have been, WWE can’t afford to fall into the repetitive pitfalls that plagued their pre-Brand Split product.

It’s time for these two to move away from one another for a while, before inevitably renewing their rivalry at some point down the line.

Who’ll step up to face The Boss? That’s a bigger issue. Paige, the next credible challenger, is currently sidelined by injury, while Alicia Fox and Summer Rae are primarily used as enhancement fodder. That realistically leaves the under-seasoned Nia Jax, who might not be the most exciting challenger on paper, but undoubtedly the most likely.
