10 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About WrestleMania 33

5. Poor Use Of Talent

Much has been made of the decision to book AJ Styles, a front-runner for the title of “best wrestler in the world”, against an ageing part-timer in Shane McMahon, and justifiably so. It’s the most startling misuse of a talent in WrestleMania history, and while the match might turn out to be a fun spectacle, most fans would have preferred to see AJ going-up against someone who can at least keep up with him in the ring.

Styles vs. McMahon isn’t the only example of WWE’s poor talent utilisation at WrestleMania 33, however. Braun Strowman, who was one of the company’s hottest acts prior to Fastlane, has been relegated to the Battle Royal. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos won’t be defending their belts, John Cena and The Miz are stuck in a tag match, and some of the company’s most talented performers find themselves in listless multi-person matches.

This is one of the most exciting talent pools that WWE have ever had at their disposal, but they’ve done a remarkably poor job of piecing this show together. That’s not to say it won’t be an enjoyable card, but it definitely won’t be as exciting as it could’ve been with a little more care.
