10 Problems With Booking John Cena Vs Brock Lesnar At WWE SummerSlam

9. There Is Too Much Of A Clash Of Styles

When two wrestlers with similar styles come together in the ring, it often creates a recipe for wrestling magic. Think guys like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan; both talented, high-risk guys that will do anything in order to entertain the crowd. Unfortunately though, it can also go the other way - with a clash of styles sometimes leading to rather forgettable wrestling matches. And the real danger is that's what the WWE are going to present to us in the main event of SummerSlam this year. John Cena and Brock Lesnar are both brutes who display extraordinary strength. They're incredible guys - nobody could doubt that - but they both seem a bit too heavy to pull off a five-star wrestling match of the year candidate. With Cena's notoriously limited ring repertoire (as we see almost each and every week), that will limit exactly what Brock can do inside the ring. Both of their in-ring repertoires are largely based around tossing people around a wrestling ring acting like the enforcer. When you pin two guys of that nature together (especially when one of them is Cena), you're not going to get an instant classic. Cena's past matches with the likes of Big Show can probably pay perfect homage to that. Do Brock and Cena have the ability to pull off decent matches? Of course they do; we've seen it throughout the course of both of their careers. It's only a few months since Cena himself went at it with Cesaro in a match that sent the WWE crowd wild. But if you factor in the fact that Brock's ring rust is going to be pretty substantial too, you can just about see why this match isn't really capturing the imagination as it should have done.
