When CM Punk first signed with the UFC, he cautioned that it would be a while before we saw him in the cage. That's fair. For a guy with no big fight experience - actually no fight experience at all - well, there's a lot of prep work. He also needs to make a test weight cut down to middleweight, and perhaps welterweight, to see how his body fares. So the time frame suggested by most pundits was early to late Summer 2015. Dana White seemed to lean towards the earlier side. Whether or not it was the press getting it wrong, it seemed like the time frame being pushed was about six months. However, in his most recent public comments, CM Punk has talked about debuting around this time next year. At thirty-six and not getting any younger, is a year wait before his debut the right move? It's an interesting question. If that was the original timeline intended, why even announce the deal so soon? Why not start training, maybe even take an amateur bout, before signing on with the UFC? Has something in the plan changed?
