4. Why Does WWE Rely On Word For Word Scripted Promos?

This is something Austin really needs to ask him. What he needs to do is tell Vince and Hunter that having scripted word for word promos is hurting WWE big time because it takes away the individualism of the performers. Some guys like Bray Wyatt are unique, but a lot of them sound the same. There's no freshness in the promo department in WWE. Dean Ambrose was on Chris Jericho's podcast about a month ago and he was talking about how he didn't really like any of his WWE promos because he was just told what to say. He's not in a position where he can write his promos or do his own things like the indies. He has to do what is written on the sheet for him and that's all he can do. Since Hunter is an old school wrestling fan like Austin is, he's probably of the belief that they need to have more of the classic promos. It's Vince that is probably set in his ways in terms of having these detailed scripted promos. Austin needs to push this point on Hunter and push it hard. Austin is right to complain about it. Have faith in your talent. Give them some direction for the promos, but let them try to come up with dialogue too. Work with them. The more that talent is invested in the product, the better.
