10 Quick Fixes To Improve WWE

2. Reinstate The Brand Split

Raw Smackdown In 2012, Raw ratings were hurting. A short-term fix that WWE came up with was to create Raw "Supershows" and combine the rosters of Raw and SmackDown every week. It very briefly stopped the bleeding, but has now made the cut much worse. Without any official announcement, the brand split was over for good and overexposure became par for the course. Sure, John Cena shows up once a week, but everyone else is pulling double, and in the case of Main Event appearances, sometimes triple duty. Now let's go back to Dolph Ziggler. Sure, he's a great talent, but do we really need to see him compete 100 times a year on TV? Seriously, counting Raw, Main Event, SmackDown and pay-per-view, he has wrestled over 80 matches in 2014 as of Nov. 10. That's insane! As good as he is, does anyone need to see him 100 times a year? Overexposure is hurting WWE far worse than management probably realizes. Hulk Hogan felt special partly because of how rarely he showed up and competed. Same went with Warrior and Andre The Giant. There's a reason why major TV shows only air 10-22 times a year. As good as Breaking Bad and The Sopranos were, the fanbase would have fallen off a cliff if they did 50 episodes a year. There's only so much fans can take of a good thing, and WWE has left us stuffed, and not hungry for more.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
