10 Quick Fixes To Save The WWE Brand Split

7. Stop Staying “Team Blue”

This may be a point of personal preference, but nonetheless I think it’s one that would benefit the SmackDown show all the same.

Slowly but surely, we’re starting to see the “Team Blue” malarkey creep into the on-screen vernacular. Now, I understand seeing this kind of overly-contrived branding on WWE.com, but when we start to see and hear the likes of Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon use the phrase in person, it sounds horribly forced and unnatural.

They may be trying to use the term to create some kind of identity, but for some reason this just feels like it cheapens the brand to me. I felt the same when the excellent duo of Daniel Bryan and Kane had to be branded Team Hell No, and when each of the three parties in the original Divas Revolution had to be Team PCB, Team BAD and Team Bellas.

What happened to the days of badass team names like the Brothers of Destruction or the Two Man Power Trip?

Anyway, I digress. I get that they’re trying to build a brand but manufactured terms like “Team Blue” just makes the show feel too sanitised in my book.
