10 Quick WWE Fixes To Save Randy Orton

2. Evolution Evolves

Installing Randy Orton as the Triple H of an Evolution 2.0 stable - with Trips assuming the Ric Flair role - would do much to replenish Orton's stock.

The problem facing Orton (under his current guise) is that he shouldn't be anywhere near the World title picture. He also shouldn't drift from aimless feud to aimless feud. They do nothing for the likes of Rusev, nor do they do anything for him. He's already established. That much is painfully clear. Acknowledging this and positioning Orton as an evolved machine, who has learned to use those around him to his advantage, would imbue his act with a sense of purpose. Having him chase Ric Flair's record in parallel with John Cena, using shortcuts, might even create anticipation for their 127th singles match (that might be generous, but it isn't hyperbole). Orton would not prosper alone. Charlotte Flair's involvement would allow WWE to tout its progressive self, and there are several talented contenders for the old Randy Orton/Batista slots: Cesaro, Jason Jordan, Pete Dunne...

It also makes wider storyline sense; why wouldn't Evolution evolve? Why can't it keep evolving? As successful as the faction was, it wasn't the Four Horsemen. There are no impossible shadows to chase.

It's not the only way WWE could mine Orton's rich legacy...
