10 Quick WWE Fixes To Save Rusev

7. Set Sail For Full Sail

Rusev WWE Champion

The original incarnation of the Rusev gimmick didn't stray too far from the Bulgarian/Russian (delete as appropriate) strongman that arrived on the main roster via the 2014 Royal Rumble for real shortly after WrestleMania 30.

It had been a surprisingly challenging road to Full Sail following his 2010 bow in the WWE developmental system. Working for the oft-maligned Florida Championship Wrestling, he broke his neck in 2012, and returned to the wildly different set up that would eventually morph into the hottest touring brand in the company.

Having bulldozed through the opposition and first linked up with eventual real-life and on-screen wife Lana during his time in Orlando, Rusev left a legacy of destruction that few imposters were able to follow in his wake.

Again, a raft of changes have occurred in the developmental league since Rusev last graced the black and yellow with his presence. A return in 2017 would afford him the opportunity to appear through a brand new prism. Undoubtedly a favourite of the Full Sail faithful, 'The Bulgarian Brute' would likely appear with the credibility of an indie darling or established icon. A topliner by default as well as talent, he'd make a phenomenal NXT Champion as the show continues its careful reinvention.
