10 Rare Times Wrestlers Were Self-Aware

But you know, it's not all depressing admissions of the toll wrestling ravages on the human body - Triple H and Shawn Michaels took the piss out of how out of touch they all are, too, at NXT TakeOver: In Your House!

This was great, actually; riffing on that GIF the DX crew of NXT Producers have seen on these "computers" the kids are stuck to all day, of Shawn Michaels prodding keys at random in a dumb stupor, they were shown backstage mystified at modern technology.

But was this a one-note visual gag, or a deeper, deliberate self-own?

The NXT creative think tank has proven itself incapable of reaching the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic, having failed to defeat Dynamite once in this all-important race. Was this a winking nod to their perception as fogeys? Were they nonplussed at the minutiae of the minutes, wondering what it is the kids aren't getting about hat theft, ceaseless entrance ramp stare-downs and a constant stream of anticlimactic disqualification finishes?

Consciously or otherwise, the geezers did create rare NXT meme material on the night, aping what it must look like when the 70 year-olds watching on Wednesday nights struggle to sign up for this "Network" dealy they have to subscribe to to watch TakeOvers.
