In 1999 that, amazingly, WCW and hard rock icons KISS started talks for a working relationship.

Eric Bischoff and bassist Gene Simmons concocted an idea for a KISS-themed wrestler to wrestle for WCW. Gene Simmons is a remarkable entrepreneur when it comes to business, with everything from KISS pinball machines to KISS condoms to KISS caskets being available to buy at one point in time.

Newcomer Dale Torborg who had trained at the Power Plant was tasked with bringing the idea to fruition as The Demon. In terms of gimmicks it ranks pretty low. A noteworthy addition to the contract KISS signed with WCW was the stipulation The Demon had to headline a pay per view at least once (deals and stipulations Vince McMahon would never allow in the WWE). Don’t worry if you can’t recall The Demon ever headlining a Starrcade or Halloween Havoc as it never happened.

WCW got around the clause by booking what they labelled a ‘Special Main Event’ at Superbrawl 2000 where The Demon wrestled The Wall. In no way was this a main event, being fourth on the card and solely involving a KISS themed wrestler and The Wall. WCW quickly gave up on The Demon, with forgettable segments with Vampiro and the Insane Clown Posse following soon after.
