10 Real-Life Wrestling Feuds That Played Out In Public

2. Ric Flair Vs. Mick Foley

Being a pair of old-timers, Ric Fair and Mick Foley mainly waged their cold war via the medium of autobiographies and in-ring shoot promos rather than cryptic social media posts.

It began - at least in the public sphere - when Flair described Foley as a "glorified stuntman" in his 2004 book "To Be A Man", the implication being that the former WWF Champion had only reached the top of the card because of his willingness to absorb punishment.

Foley took exception to these comments and took aim at The Nature Boy at a Ring of Honor event later on that year, suggesting that the veteran was risk-averse ("I'm no Ric Flair because every once in a while I actually say something different") and that he had outstayed his welcome as an active competitor.

The great thing about this real-life rivalry is that the pair later shook hands and made amends, even sharing a brilliantly brutal "I Quit" match together at SummerSlam 2006. We got great drama inside the ring and out, and we only had to spend $100 on hardback books.
