10 REAL Reactions From WWE Wrestlers Being Punished On Air

7. Public Enemy (Sunday Night Heat, 1999)

A beating so horrendous it should be the subject of its own Dark Side Of The Ring documentary, the "match" between The Public Enemy and locker room enforcers Bradshaw and Faarooq was a case of everybody looking the other way apart from those, jaws agape, in the arena and watching on television.

A 1999 edition of Sunday Night Heat was turned into a violent playground for The Acolytes, deployed as they were to instil some respect into the pair the old fashioned way after some locker room infractions during their brief run.

It makes for grim re-watch - the company stalwarts simply do not sell for The Public Enemy, and the outsiders react with their wanton suffering. The duo are abused with steel steps, chairs, tables and just about anything the pair can get their hands on. Kevin Kelly and Terry Taylor couldn't even ignore it on (post-produced) commentary. Both Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock took such an absurd pummelling that the referee had no choice but to wave the whole thing off - like that went any way to subduing the chaos.

"I don't know if we'll ever see Public Enemy again", noted Kelly, in shock at the state of things as yet more chairs and tables were worn out on the ex-ECW stars. We did, but only twice - they were gone from WWE within a month of the mauling.
