10 Realistic Storylines That Would Be Perfect For Today's WWE

7. Apollo Crews Pushed As The First-Ever African-American WWE World Champion

Since there are still many people who perceive there to be an enormous inequality between races in the United States, WWE throwing all of their support behind an African-American would do wonders to help them show that they aren€™t as €˜backwards€™ as some elitists in society still perceive them to be. WWE could make note of that issue and use it as a vehicle to push Apollo Crews to the top of WWE. They could accelerate his push in NXT and eventual main roster debut, and place him in a similar position to the one that Reigns now holds (though Crews wouldn€™t be so over-exposed in the way Reigns is). This push would culminate in a Royal Rumble win and a World Title victory at WrestleMania somewhere down the road. If done correctly, Crews can easily be portrayed as an underdog fighting against a system that does not believe that he can truly draw as a top guy (akin to the Daniel Bryan €˜B+ player€™ shtick). But Crews would prove everyone wrong: his incredible athleticism and charisma would triumph over any preconceived notions of inferiority, and he€™d become massively over with the crowd. This isn€™t to say that Crews should be given extra attention because of his race; he€™s good enough of a wrestler to reach the top with skill alone. That said, WWE should really present his eventual title win feel historic because of what it signifies.
