Like him or hate him, Brock Lesnar is viewed as a legitimate athlete by the sporting community. His success in Ultimate Fighting Championship led to a higher profile in the mainstream media world than he ever would have received working for Vince McMahon and it is that appeal that made him such an asset to World Wrestling Entertainment in the first place. People buy pay-per-view events featuring Lesnar due to the fact that he is a freakish athlete they want to see beat someone up. That is a hellish selling point and one that WWE can take advantage of by booking him as a dominant force and their heavyweight champion. Not only does Lesnar's status as a globally accepted athlete help lend legitimacy to the top prize in sports-entertainment, a long title reign in which Lesnar tears through some of the top stars at the most important events of the year would help bring some stability to the title following six title changes over the last year. Lesnar could become the Bane of WWE, ruling over the company with an iron fist and holding the championship hostage in the process.
