7. No Answers To PPV Payoff Questions In WWE Network Era
Punk didn't work a WWE PPV while the WWE Network was available, but he knew it was coming just like everybody else. WWE Network launched in February about one month after he left the company. During the months leading up to the launch, there were reports that wrestlers were wondering if they would lose PPV payoffs once the WWE Network arrived. We didn't know the names of those wrestlers, but Punk said that he went up to Vince McMahon multiple times asking him about PPV payoffs. Every time he asked, he was met by a laugh by Vince and was never given a straight answer. At the start of the podcast, Punk mentioned that he wasn't there to complain about money and things like that, but he actually did complain about it a few times. It's understandable because we all want to get paid what we're worth no matter what our job is. It is pretty shady of WWE to not let talent know about PPV payoffs. We hope that the wrestlers are being compensated in a fair way, but we really don't know it as a fact at this point. Punk's concerns with the PPV payoffs make a lot of sense. The fact that he was never given a straight answer is something that caused a rift in his relationship with his bosses.
