9. Theres Always The Past
The WWE is absolutely aware that there is money in nostalgia. And when the current product is mediocre at best, old school fans tend to get especially nostalgic. The WWE Network isnt being targeted towards the young fans so much as it towards fans who have been with the company since the 80s and 90s, who can now revisit these so-called glory days with ease and convenience. There is a never-ending chorus out there of those who would seemingly give up a limb if it meant the WWE would return to the fabled Attitude Era way of doing things (i.e., blood, foul language and scantily clad women). Heres the bad news, however: its not going to happen. The WWE pushed the envelope so much in the late 90s because it needed to do so to compete with WCW for TV ratings. Thats not the case today. Be it through DVDs, video games or exclusive Network programming, the Attitude era is revisited regularly, which allows fans to revel in nostalgia and maybe calm down a little bit about the current era.
