10 Reasons To Get Into New Japan Pro Wrestling

1. Kazuchika Okada

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKaY9R6VzHM Kazuchika Okada is quite simply one of the best professional wrestlers in the world, and if there is only one reason to watch New Japan, it€™s to witness him wrestle. With opponents the caliber of Nakamura, Tanahashi and AJ Styles, Okada has spent the last few years blowing the minds of everyone who watches one of his matches. When he arrived in NJPW it was obvious they saw big things in his future, pitting him against a plethora of main event talent, but they didn€™t seem to quite know what to do with him in the long term. He was sent to TNA in order to hone his character and come back stronger than ever, but TNA mismanaged the obvious talent they had and what was meant to be a two-to-three year excursion ended up lasting less than one. In 2011, he became the Rainmaker, a smug villainous rich boy, and recruited CHAOS stablemate (and one of NJPW€™s bookers) Gedo as his spokesperson. He won his first IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Tanahashi, signalling his arrival on the main event scene. Just like the best bad guys, Okada was so entertaining that fans began to loved hi for it, and he€™s been a face for a while now. He has some of the most entertaining entrances in wrestling, regularly making personalised dollar bills rain from the sky, and earlier this year entered the arena with a Final Fantasy-esque sword and a giant animatronic dinosaur. Earlier this year, he defeated his CHAOS teammate Shinsuke Nakamura in the G1 Climax finales, and earned a guaranteed IWGP Heavyweight Championship match at NJPW€™s biggest show. Many thought he would be taking on AJ Styles, who won the title from Okada earlier in the year, but Tanahashi dethroned Styles and now the main event of WrestleKingdom 9 is two old rivals facing off once more.
