Kevin Owens rose to prominence during his days in Ring of Honor and in other independent promotions, including Pro Wrestling Guerilla. It was in his many mat wars across the globe that Owens earned the reputation he did as one of the hottest, if not best, wrestlers in the industry. His style evolved, as did his character, and the result was a much more well-rounded performer.

It also prepared him for WWE in ways that he would not have been had he jumped directly from his home promotion to the big show. He also had a built-in fan base of Internet smart marks waiting for him when he finally arrived in NXT, chomping at the bit to cheer his every exploit, regardless of whether he is a babyface or not.

Most importantly, in a day and time in which fans are actively rejecting home-grown stars like Roman Reigns, Owens has the support of the die-hard audience already on his side. Now, he awaits the major push to reward that fan support.

He resides in Parts Unknown, where he hosts weekly cookouts with Kane, The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango and The Boogeyman. Be jealous.
