If you look back at WWE’s history, Angle was involved in a lot of big, memorable angles. He had his head shaved, he drove a milk truck, he saved the WWF from extinction by acting as an undercover agent who infiltrated The Alliance. He was a General Manager of SmackDown, and carried the brand with Brock Lesnar post-brand split. He battled Eddie Guerrero at WrestleMania XX, he was John Cena's first opponent and he introduced the Kurt Angle invitational. Those are just a few of his notable moments in the company..

It’s odd that he’s been left out of WWE's history so decisively since his departure, but Vince likely didn’t want to promote him while he was in TNA. There were also some personal issues on Angle's end that the boss probably wanted to distance himself from. Still, it was a glaring omission.

Next to Rock, Austin, Cena and Taker Angle was probably the biggest star in the company from 1999 to 2006. Besides Taker, he was the only one who served through all that time. Not focusing on him at all felt like the company was re-writing their own history. Thankfully now that Angle is returning they’re free to celebrate his contributions once again. It just feels right.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
