Before he slammed Andre in front of a crowd bigger than a Kumbh Mela pilgrimage, way before he tussled with Pride fighters in the seventies - Hulk Hogan played a mean bass guitar.

Moonlighting as a session musician, before he became a professional wrestler, Hogan told The Sun in 2012 that he was 'big pals' with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich during the band's early days.

In addition to being boys, Lars was so impressed with Hulk's skills, that he even asked the future Hollywood Hogan if he'd like to join the band.

Hulk didn't go into great detail about why he didn't end up being part of the legendary group, merely stating that "it didn't work out". Presumably the Hulkster let Lars down gently.

When Lars was asked to comment on why Hogan never made it as part of Metallica, he strangely replied that he had didn't even know Hulk Hogan.

When Metallica co-founder and lead vocalist James Hetfield was asked if he could shed some light on Lars' failing memory and speak on if Hulk was actually offered a role in the group he replied, "Huh? definitely not."
