10 Reasons NXT Is Better Viewing Than Raw And Smackdown

9. The Announce Team Rotates And Is A Fresh Combination

One of the biggest complaints about Raw and Smackdown currently is the commentary teams. For both shows we get Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield. You can find separate articles all over the net explaining all of the things that are wrong with those commentators from not focusing on the match to constant repetitive lines; all of which makes the commentary not only boring and dry, but very annoying on a lot of aspects as well. At least with the NXT show, we've had a rotating group of six different announcers since the end of July. On any given show, you'll get a combination of any three among: Tom Philips, Byron Saxon, Renee Young, Rich Brennan, Alex Riley, and Jason Albert. Just by having a completely different commentary team, it offers fresh perspectives; which hopefully leads to some of them getting promoted in the future. That has already happened with Tom Phillips as he is now the play by play man on Smackdown, but still doesn't get as many words in as JBL and Cole. Another interesting part of this NXT announce team is that one of them is female in Renee Young. On Raw and Smackdown you see her as a backstage interviewer, and she is great in her job; however, as a color commentator, she really shines. It would be great to see her replace Jerry Lawler once he retires. It would be monumental as she would be the first female to be a full-time color commentator in WWE history, but she is also really good at it.
