10 Reasons NXT TakeOver Events Always Overshadow WWE PPVs
1. Every TakeOver Feels Special
Speaking of the frequency of WWE pay per views, how many of these events feel throwaway? Sure, some - such as WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, and so on - are intentionally stocked with big moments, but many 'B' PPVs contain relatively little to get excited about. There's nothing quite as deflating as a disappointingly booked WWE pay per view, especially one which looked good on paper.
In contrast, almost every single TakeOver special has felt important - and unpredictable. Big moments happen at almost every event, and I'm not just talking about match results or individual spots. Take Seth Rollins' recent appearance at TakeOver San Antonio, an entirely unannounced arrival which felt huge and enhanced the show (as well as his own feud with Triple H).
Sadly, it's impossible to expect WWE to constantly pull surprises out of their hat for main roster PPVs due to their frequency. When such shows are scheduled so close together, some will naturally fall by the wayside. Thankfully, in the case of NXT, that problem has been avoided so far.
