10 Reasons Spike TV Will Cancel TNA Impact Wrestling
7. Stagnant Ratings And No Upward Mobility
It doesn't matter who TNA brings in, be it Hulk Hogan, Sting, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, or even John Gaburick, their ratings have remained the same for years. Impact does about a 1.0, give or take a few tenths of a point, no matter how stacked their shows are or what direction they seem to take. One has to believe that Dixie and co. truly thought that the signing of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff would be the shot in the arm to put TNA over the hump, but that didn't even come close to happening. In fact, the opposite can be argued, that their tenure in TNA did more harm than good due to the resources they ate up. Some believe that Hogan is still such a recognizable star that he helps negotiating power, and that may be true. But he sure as hell didn't cause any sustainable uptick in the ratings. For a TV channel to want to invest in a program, they need to feel like there's potential for growth. TNA has never once shown an ability to become anything more than what they are, and maybe Spike feels it's not longer worth the time and effort.
