10 Reasons The 1990 Royal Rumble Is The Best Of All Time
8. A Packed Opening
Ted DiBiase was the first man to enter the Rumble, followed by Koko B. Ware. DiBiase made short work of Koko before doing the same with Marty Jannetty, but his seemingly flawless run through the competition came to an abrupt halt. The next three entries were as iconic as you’re going to get in all of WWE history. Jake Roberts entered at four - followed by Randy Savage and Roddy Piper at five and six, respectively.
Bret Hart soon followed at eight, and Dusty Rhodes arrived at 10 to round out the first third. Has there ever been a more stacked opening third of a Royal Rumble match? From DiBiase to Rhodes, a whopping seven Hall of Famers entered. If you take into account that The Warlord was managed by Mr. Fuji, that number goes up to eight.
The crowd was incredibly hot regardless, but the conveyor belt of stars ensured that the excitement stayed high. The introduction of so many experienced heads meant that the match also got a solid foundation on which to build, something that is often overlooked in battle royals.
