10 Reasons The Undertaker Rivalry Was CM Punk's Greatest Feud

5. Believable Threat To The Streak

In any rivalry based around the Undertaker's WrestleMania record, the most important thing is that the man squaring off with the Dead Man looks like a genuinely credible threat. The Undertaker is a truly iconic star who only appears for one feud a year, so it's vital that the guy on the other side of the feud looks to have a chance at ending the Streak. With that in mind, CM Punk was pretty much the perfect choice. He had just come off the back of an enormous championship reign - the longest of the modern era. The only thing that CM Punk had left to conquer in the WWE was the Streak. There was more at stake than a shiny gold belt. This was a chance to make history. Given the faith that WWE clearly had in Punk as a performer and a future top guy, there was a real feeling that he could be the man to defeat the Undertaker, who by that point had acquired a truly unbeatable persona. It was this anticipation of greatness against a seemingly infallible foe that put Punk vs Undertaker ahead of his rivalries with the likes of Daniel Bryan and John Cena.
