10 Reasons The Undertaker Rivalry Was CM Punk's Greatest Feud

4. Punk Embraced Evil

CM Punk's best moments as a heel came during his feud with the Undertaker. The introduction of the real-life death of Paul Bearer into the storyline added an especially nasty edge to Punk. He had always been a character who pushes the boundaries of kayfabe with worked shoot promos, but this was a truly nasty TV character who spun a genuine tragedy into the storyline. Punk's work throughout the feud was absolutely sensational. His complete disrespect towards Undertaker's urn, which had come to represent Bearer, really made him a hate figure. He would cut promos whilst tossing the urn around on his arm as Paul Heyman looked on; the latter speechless for pretty much the only time in his career. This level of evil helped to put over just how irate Punk had become since losing the title. He was prepared to go to any lengths to defeat the Undertaker at WrestleMania, regardless of how evil he needed to be.
