10 Reasons WCW Spring Stampede 2000 Was Wrestling’s Most Over-Booked PPV Ever
1. Kimberly Page Turned Heel On DDP In The Main Event
Hardly any matches at Spring Stampede finished without some sort of interference or distraction. Such tropes should be there to enhance a bout, or continue telling a story about the people involved in it. They certainly shouldn't be wheeled out without rhyme or reason just to cram as much on the show as humanly possible.
The WCW World Title main event between Diamond Dallas Page and Jeff Jarrett was going along fine until the writers couldn't help but introduce shenanigans. Referee Charles Robinson took a ref bump, and all hell broke loose. Kimberly Page grabbed Jarrett's guitar, and what followed was one of the most obvious swerves in wrestling history.
Instead of planting Jeff with the instrument, Kimberly smacked her husband with the guitar. DDP was downed, and Jarrett became the new WCW World Champion. After all of that, The New Blood hit the ring for a big old celebration.
Noticeably, the live audience was shattered by the time the main event began. The booking had been erratic and over-saturated, enough happened at Spring Stampede for an entire year's worth of pay-per-views.
