10 Reasons Why AJ Styles Won't Meet Fans' Expectations
4. His 'High Salary' Doesn't Mean He Will Main Event
Let's talk dollars and cents; scrub the idea that AJ Styles signed with WWE to fulfil a life-long dream out of your brains so we can focus on the reality of the situation. There is plenty of talk that AJ Styles is destined for the main event picture due to his 'expensive' $450k downside contract. For those who could care less about contracts, a downside contract is WWE's preferred method of signing talent, and it effectively means they are guaranteed a certain amount of money with the potential to earn more if they remain healthy and both the individual and company are financially successful. Judging by WWE's recent significant overall profits, AJ will earn much more than $450k, health-permitting. It sounds like a whole lot of money, but to put it in perspective, Big Show earned upwards of $1.2 million and Dolph Ziggler earned upwards of $900,000 in 2015, and both receive additional travel perks as part of their contracts. The reality is Styles signed for WWE for only a guaranteed $50k more than he earned in 2015, giving him some financial security, but it doesn't even put him in the WWE high-earners bracket. AJ signed for exposure and guaranteed money with the opportunity to earn more, but he doesn't even earn as much as a guy who fans want to retire and a guy who jobbed to Tyler Breeze. The idea that ol Vinnie Mac wont allow that much money to go to waste can officially be thrown out the window.
Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
