10 Reasons Why Daniel Bryan Belongs On WWE's Mount Rushmore
8. His Final Programme Vs. Roman Reigns And Edge
If this run genuinely was Daniel Bryan's last as a WWE-contracted wrestler, then what a way to go out.
His WrestleMania 37 programme with Edge and defending champion Roman Reigns over the Universal Championship - inarguably the most coveted in WWE right now - was genuine, compelling, must-see WWE television. That simply doesn't exist as much as it once did. We're in the age of rotten tomato baths, rather than beer baths. They're not in a similar universe.
This, however, was something you had to go out of your way to witness. Just picture it this way; three guys who had to overcome serious hurdles in their professional and personal lives (two who were once retired, one who had defeated leukaemia more than once) were now main eventing WrestleMania. It writes itself. WWE didn't even make a mess of the match, either. It was a stand-out contest from a 'Mania that had epic performances for Bianca Belair, Omos, and Bad Bunny.
It was crucial that Reigns retained the title because he's on this incredible run. Edge, already a Hall of Famer, didn't need another title to his CV, and they obviously knew Bryan's contract was running thin. He didn't need putting over.
Just look at Reigns now. He's still one of the hottest acts in professional wrestling.
