10 Reasons Why Daniel Bryan's Wrestling Style Cost Him His Career

2. An Old School Mentality

Daniel Bryan was a throwback. If picked up an injury during a match, he was going to go through the pain barrier to finish it, whatever the weather. That includes all the ocasions he got his bell rung and suffered a concusion. This battle-through-anything mentality used to be a given in the wrestling business, you were frowned upon if you didn't abide by it. That's all changed now, as Bryan found out himself when he had a heated exchange with Triple H. "I had never had a stinger before," Bryan told Opie Radio in July of last year. "Triple H tells the medical doctor at ringside to stop the match. I sprinted into the ring and tried to keep the match going with Randy Orton, because this was going to be the biggest win of my career to that point," "I did a top rope dropkick, and I couldn't get up, I couldn't move my arms. Randy, he's on the ground going 'Dan, Dan, what the F are you doing?'" "When I came back, I was hot. I don't want to say we got nose-to-nose, because he's 6'3. We came pretty close. They're more conscious of protecting us from ourselves." Why didn't WWE implement this mentality in sooner? It could have saved a lot of careers.
