10 Reasons Why NXT TakeOver: The End Was Sadly Underwhelming

8. American Alpha's Momentum Cut Short

What a poor way to kill Chad Gable and Jason Jordan's momentum dead in its tracks, especially after what was the match of the night.

Hours after TakeOver has concluded, the result of American Alpha's failed Tag Team Championship defence still doesn't sit well. Absolutely nothing against The Revival, who have played a major part in revitalising a struggling form of wrestling, but there's no way they should have been crowned the first ever two-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

They are worthy of the crown for sure, but not now - the next few months at least had to belong to American Alpha. The Revival had their time in the sun and benefited greatly from a lengthy title reign. In contrast, Gable and Jordan look like flashes in the pan.

The decision to hand the titles back to The Revival makes sense considering what transpired after the bell, but the NXT creative team have not done their most popular tag team any favours going forward.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
