10 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Must Return As A Heel
6. It Will Make A Match With John Cena More Interesting
One inevitability for the near future is that Roman Reigns and John Cena will be crossing paths. The company's two top babyfaces have been largely kept apart, but before long (and probably at WrestleMania), the so-called dream match will booked.
The problem with the bout is that what's supposed to be a passing of the torch will be roundly rejected. Fans hate Reigns, and they're only fond of Cena in comparison. Unless the 15-time champion can truly rally fans around him (which isn't really the point, given that Reigns will be winning and officially claiming Cena's spot as company ace), expect a lot of "This match sucks!" and "NXT!" chants.
Turning Reigns heel allows WWE to build up a proper feud between the two, making things far more interesting. If Cena and Reigns are babyfaces and their match is simply presented as "Who's the man?" it'll be rejected outright as a lie. If there's a true hatred between the two men and a compelling story as to why, people might actually be invested in both the bout and the outcome.
Plus, announcers can still tout the winner as WWE's top star, just not the company's true hero.
