10 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Must Turn Heel At WWE Survivor Series

9. It's The Survivor Series

The Montreal Screwjob at Survivor Series 1997 may have been real, but that hasn't stopped the company from building several storylines around it - one of which, notably, is to expect the unexpected at Survivor Series. In 1998, the WWE Championship was vacant heading into the event, and super-popular babyface The Rock looked poised to capture it. He did, but only after turning heel and aligning with the McMahon family in an exact repeat of the finish from Bret/Shawn the year before. While nobody's suggesting that WWE go back to that well step for step (the "ring the bell" finish has been more than overdone), a similar tack could make for some very entertaining storylines leading into WrestleMania season. Fans expect a surprise - and even some screwiness - at the Survivor Series, whether it's the debut of The Shield or the arrival of Sting. That makes the event the perfect place for Reigns to turn his back on the WWE Universe.
