Then, he came across as an equal to one of the biggest stars ever.

One thing becomes obvious whenever John Cena clears his Hollywood schedule and returns for some WWE fun: JC is so much better than 99/9% of talent on the microphone. His promos resonate, and they always grab attention. So, it's incredible that Roman was able to match his poise.

Reigns didn't rush through any of his speeches during the build towards SummerSlam 2021. It would've been easy to do that, but he wanted to appear self-assured (for the most part) and present himself as a gatekeeper to WWE's product without coming across as some valiant babyface.

Come pay-per-view time, Roman was willing to bend a knee to all those familiar Cena spots that fans wanted to see again. He knew that running through John's greatest hits would make for a cool visual, and he bounced around with aplomb before (perhaps inevitably) retaining his title.
