10 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Topped PWI's Top 500 Wrestlers 2022
3. The Giving Champion In-Ring
He's really generous when the bell sounds too.
Roman dominated 90% of his matches during the earliest days of his heel run. Perhaps he had to, because he was in the process of establishing a new character and wanted to stamp his mark on it, but the dude has been much more giving since. That generosity has peaked this past year.
Matches vs. Finn Bálor, Seth Rollins, Goldberg and even Matt Riddle on the 17 June 2022 edition of SmackDown prove that. In each, Reigns willingly bounced around for his rivals and made them look better for that babyface shine. Yes, even Bill Goldberg (their Elimination Chamber showing was brief-but-underrated).
This smacks of a worker who knows he couldn't possibly fail if he just sticks to the basics. Roman Reigns has developed into one of pro wrestling's best in-ring storytellers, and that once seemed unthinkable during his wonky forced babyface push in 2015-2016.
