7. The Little Things
Breaking the mould as a heel, refreshing his look and his alliance with Heyman have certainly changed Roman Reigns completely. But it is the little details that truly flesh out the character.
For years, Reigns' character had no subtlety. The WWE had no intention of trying to build him up to win the support of the fans. They just shoved him straight into the main event, regardless of the fans' desires, and told us that this was the guy they saw as the top star.
Every rivalry or promo lacked any nuance, with Reigns effectively telling his opponents he would whoop their ass and then storming the ring regardless of the numbers. It didn't work.
But now, Reigns adds so many tiny extra pieces to his character that truly bring it to life. Little smirks when challenges are laid out, or squints of frustration when he is interrupted. They all feed into this believable role he plays as a man who looks down on everyone.
Even the way he raises his title belt during his entrance, he ensures he pushes it up with extra heft, as if lifting the biggest prize in the company takes the effort and strength only he possesses. It's great stuff, and it elevates him so far above all of the other characters on the show.
