10 Reasons Why Roman Reigns' WWE Heel Turn Has Been So Successful
2. That WrestleMania Finish
Speaking of WrestleMania 37...
Roman Reigns vs. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Universal Championship was absolutely brilliant. A thrilling main event, which broke the usual, tired tropes of a WWE Triple Threat match. Yes, the build was a bit muddled, but there is no denying that the destination thoroughly outweighed the journey.
All three men showed why they are elite tier workers, and there was some genuine concern that Reigns could drop the belt to either man. Edge had returned from a bad injury that had cut the legs of his unbelievable return off at the knees, and with Bryan's contract nearly up, perhaps WWE would offer him another run to keep him onside?
None of that mattered and WWE double downed on Reigns with an iconic finish.
Taking full advantage of the no disqualification rules, Edge flattened Bryan with a chairshot before turning into a vicious spear from Reigns. Then, after a sickening Con-Chair-To to the Rated-R Superstar, Reigns dragged Edge across the ring, stacked him on top of Bryan and pinned both men at the same time.
It wasn't a sneaky roll up out of nowhere. It wasn't a low blow, or holding the ropes.
Reigns stacked a Hall of Famer on top of possibly the greatest wrestler alive today, and pinned them both whilst looking the referee dead in the eyes.
Pure dominance.
