10 Reasons Why WWE Clash Of Champions 2020 Was The Best PPV Of The Year

6. It Succeeded In Spite Of The Filler

We've already mentioned how Clash of Champions had a mountain of filler to climb in order to truly deliver, but let's just talk a little about why that was.

On paper, the event did not look good. The card was stacked with last-minute match additions thrown together simply because the champions needed a match - and if that didn't work, they just chucked previous opponents at the champions instead, meaning we got an event full of rematches too. And an event full of filler meant that it was hard to see Clash of Champions as anything but just that: Filler. In spite of that, it succeeded.

The matches we expected to deliver lived up to that promise, with one or two of them overdelivering in the process. The rest of the contests ranged from decent to great, leaving us with the first event in a very long time in which there wasn't a single bad offering and defying just about everybody's expectations as a result.
