10 Reasons Why WWE Must Turn Drew McIntyre Heel Immediately

8. Desperate Need For A Refresh

Having held the title through the empty arena era, performing for canned cheers and the LED screens of the Thunderdome, no one could begrudge Drew the chance to shine in front of a live crowd.

Fans were right behind him during WrestleMania 37’s opening bout, willing him to hit the Claymore and secure a victory. Had McIntyre managed to win back the belt it might have been one of those much sought after WrestleMania moments. Sadly, since then fans have started to sour on the big Scot.

The worst thing is, none of it is really Drew’s fault. No one doubts the effort “WWE’s Hybrid Athlete” brings to his matches and more often than not they deliver. The problem is stagnant WWE booking that has seen McIntyre hanging around the title picture far too long.

WWE’s main event scene is badly in need of some fresh blood and Drew also needs a new direction. “The Scottish Psychopath” could be a great upper midcard gatekeeper until he’s had sufficient break from the top titles.

Hopefully this would quash the sort of fan resentment that has damaged other overpushed star in the past. Drew needs to eschew the countdowns and Claymore an supposed ally to the back of the head out of nowhere to trigger a heel turn.
