10 Reasons Why WWE Must Turn John Cena Heel Immediately

6. He Can Tie (And Break) Ric Flair's Record

At SummerSlam, event host Jon Stewart interfered in the Seth Rollins-John Cena match, costing Cena his chance to become a world champion for the 16th time. The following night on Raw, Stewart explained his actions by stating that as a wrestling fan, he simply didn't want to see Cena tie Ric Flair's record of 16 world title wins. Undoubtedly, many fans felt the same way. Still, Cena tying - and eventually breaking - the record is inevitable. WWE has typically chosen to book him as champion rather than challenger, and the result is that he's spent more time with a world title around his waist than anyone in the modern era. As Cena's only 38 years old with plenty of gas in the tank, he could break the record within the next couple of years. Fans are sure to revolt when he does, but if he's a heel, it doesn't matter - he can soak up their hatred, smile, and tell everyone that it was just a matter of time. Smashing a record as venerated as Flair's - and maybe even disrespecting "The Nature Boy" to his face on Raw - would make Cena the most hated man in the industry (well, even more hated).
