10 Reasons Why WWE Peaked In The Year 2000

5. Kurt Angle Was The Best Rookie Ever

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0piyaanzrZo The television debut of Kurt Angle took place at Survivor Series 1999 in Detroit. Prior to that, he had spent months working dark matches. When he finally became a regular on TV, he took off like no rookie in the history of the business and had an incredible run in 2000. What did Angle do in 2000? He won pretty much everything there is to win including the WWE Title and King of the Ring. There were memorable feuds with the likes of Triple H with Angle falling for Stephanie McMahon, but they didn't book that one the right way with Angle getting the girl. He won the WWE Title from The Rock. He even successfully defended the WWE Title in a historic six man Hell in a Cell match with some of the biggest names in WWE history like Austin, Triple H, Rock, Undertaker and Rikishi. There's only one guy that had a first year that's comparable to Angle's and that's Brock Lesnar, but even in his case Angle was better. There will probably never be anybody like Angle again. He picked things up faster than anybody ever has. It's amazing how polished he was as a performer right from the beginning. By the end of his first year, Angle was as good as anybody in WWE and over the next few years he was considered by most people to be the best in the world. There's no question that one of the highlights of WWE in their best year was the growth of Angle.
