10 Reasons Why You Need To Respect The Miz

3. He Surpassed Every Expectation

Once, during his electric 2010 United States Title run, The Miz cut one of the best promos of his career, and probably one of the best in the company all year.

In it, he outlined the torrent of abuse and disdain he received when he first laced his boots in WWE, and how he proved everybody wrong,

But this was not a typical 'I-told-you-so' heel speech to get at fans.

This was the stone cold truth about the unthinkable ascent Miz had made within the WWE system, arriving as a realty TV wannabe loathed by locker-room leaders like John 'Bradshaw' Layfield, to main roster utility player and eventual WWE Champion.

It still remains utterly remarkable how he navigated the choppy waters of his first days with the company, gritting his teeth through woeful fluff jobs such as 'Smackdown Host', a ropey first few months on the blue brand's undercard and an insufferable 'hoorah' catchphrase that was thankfully dumped in short order.

JBL was particularly scathing on commentary, spending months eviscerating Miz for his useless act and 'undeserved' status on WWE TV.

Despite all of this, just over a year after his in-ring television debut, Miz would find just the act to starting winning over his detractors.
